Hello Trolls!
Well, we are back from our industry convention, GAMA Expo, with some great videos and photos to show you. While the game is being manufactured, they are still solidifying some of the minis (these take the longest to plan, but are the fastest to produce). So, without further ado...
The Stunning Minis
These look so much better with the grey colour than they did when they were white. While we still need to see the colours in real life, here are the completed mini shapes...
We didn't like how the red on the Gnome tokens turned out originally. So we had our manufacturer change the colour, and here we are! Muuuuuuuuch better!
This will probably be the last of the component emails for a while. I'm excited that we've already gone to print with the game. Our manufacturer is telling us another 60 days. But they are unsure about that timeline. I have a feeling they have given us some buffer time. Hopefully we'll be ready to ship these games by mid-May. This will mean mid-to-end-of June for fulfilment. This is perfect timing. We really want to see our backers with games in hand by the end of July.

Cardboard Samples Are In!!

Hello Trolls,
We finally received the samples. We've reviewed it, we've taken photos, and we've submitted our changes. Final numbers are in. It is GO TIME! Here are some photos to tide you over until I have news that the games are complete and ready to ship (in 60 days or so).
The Stunning Box
Check out the difference in size between the retail and the deluxe games! Notice that the top is sitting off of the bottom of the box. We've requested to add another 10mm to the box so that everything fits in well. Also the gold foil is going to be a metallic red, so that it really pops.
Inside The Box
We love how everything fits right into place with the amazing Game Trayz!
Shiny!!
This another thing that will change, to ensure more accurate positioning; the outlined gold foil Elder symbols will be filled-in instead.
Cutting Down On Plastics
While we still have a long way to go, we have recently been making a conscious effort to cut down on plastics. We will still be providing plastic baggies for storage, but we are cutting out shrink wrapping wherever possible. This is a start! We are using a paper band to wrap card decks moving forward.

An Update

Hello Trolls,
We hope that you are all keeping well and safe. Not much news today, but an update nonetheless.
Samples
We are still waiting for our cardboard samples. We are unsure about why they are taking so long to get here, as they were posted several weeks ago. But if we don't get them by next week, we are going to have the manufacturer reprint and send them again. This has definitely prolonged the manufacturing flow. The insert will take at least another 15 days. But we can begin manufacturing the other components while we wait.
Translations
We have received the French (Iello France translation) and German (Skellig translation) translation files, which means we are just waiting on the Spanish (Gen X Games translation) files. Once these are ready, we're going to go to print. Unfortunately, this step has been effected by Covid. This has also prolonged the manufacturing flow.
Timeline
We believe we'll be able to begin manufacturing in the next week or so. If we go to print next week, that will take us to the middle of April for manufacturing and packing. This means at least another 30 days to get your games to their various regions. It is clear to us, at this point, that we are going to be around a month late delivering your games to you. While we always strive to get your games to you within the timeframe we set out, there are many factors that can affect our ability to do that. We are hoping we get your games to you as close to the date as we can.
BackerKit
There are still many of you who have not filled out your BackerKit surveys, and 54 of you who have had issues with your credit cards. If you are in one of these two categories, please log into your BackerKit account and see what you can do to straighten this out.

Charging Cards on BackerKit and Some Nice Press

We hope that you're getting back to business as usual, as we are after the holidays. Today, some new information on timelines, and some AMAZING press from our friends over at Quackalope and BoardGamesCo!!
Charging Cards on BackerKit
As per our plan, this Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 9am EST we will be charging your cards for shipping, VAT, and any add-ons you may have. This is a good opportunity for you to review what you have in your cart and make sure that we are able to charge your credit cards. I always tell backers to check with their credit card company before we hit "charge cards" so that we can avoid any unnecessary back and forth between you and us. Sometimes your banks will lock charges that are coming to your credit cards when they are not usual purchases that you make.
Quackalope and BoardGamesCo
Over the last couple of weeks there has been so much media released about top games of 2021 and games that are most eagerly awaited for 2022. But today I'm sharing with you these two videos where Jesse from Quackalope and Alex from BoardGamesCo show up on each others' YouTube videos to discuss the games that will rival their top games of all time. Wouldn't you know it... Fall of the Mountain King shows up on both!! We were so very excited to see these videos, we thought we'd share with you!

Hello Trolls!
We are just starting to wind down for the holidays. But we and wanted to make sure that we sent this update before we do. First things first, happy holidays for those who celebrate. We wish you the best for this season.
We Received Samples
Our manufacturer is really on top of things. When bits are ready, they send them immediately. Today we received a package with all of the plastic and wooden samples. We were so excited to tear into them. We've taken some photos and videos for you to see.
You will notice that we do not have any of the cardboard in the photos. Since we made In the Hall of the Mountain King in the past with them, we already know the cardboard quality (it will be exactly the same). So, we told them that it would be okay for them to send cardboard samples with the insert, when that is ready.
One note about the plastic miniatures: it is incredibly difficult to capture the details on the white minis (again, only samples), because they are white and are 3D printed. These samples are only to help us understand the footprint of the pieces themselves. Once the final plastic samples are made, we'll send you photos again that will show you the colours and finer details on the minis.

This is the only component that warrants feedback to our manufacturer. The (blank) Champion tile does not fit well into the space that is supposed to hold it. They will be fixing this one and only issue for us. As you can see on the campaign page mockup, the Tile is supposed to slide deeper into the mini:
Discovering issues like this one highlights the importance of the sampling process! Here are some videos of the white 3D-printed plastic pieces. Remember, these don't capture the detail that the manufactured finals will have:
I thought I would include a bit of fun info for those of you who are curious about how we choose the player colours. Of course, it is important for the components to look nice together and have a cohesion that makes them feel and look like they belong to the game. But we also consult a colour blind app that shows us what someone who is colour blind will see.
You will notice the common colours on the upper left. When we create a component that only is different in colour, it's important for us to keep those colours distinct for players with different colour vision. We're excited about this colour pallet.
January's Happenings
On January 15th we are going to be charging your credit cards. Please make sure that your credit card company knows that the charge is coming. We often get backers whose cards are declined because they have tight fraud detectors. All you need to do is warn the company that the charge is coming.
In January, we'll likely see more samples from the manufacturer. We plan to start printing in January. The plan was to try to have the printing done before the end of March, and I think we are still in good standing for that to happen.
